Day 21
Your Prayers Are Powerful
Never underestimate the power of your prayers. Satan may try to convince you that your prayers do not matter. Satan may try to tell you, you do not pray correctly or your life is too imperfect to pray. All of these are lies. Remember, satan’s primary language is lying.
James 5:16 (NLT) Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.
The Bible has many wonderful true stories of brave people who responded to God’s call. Queen Esther is one.
The Jewish people had rebelled against God’s Word and as a result, had been conquered by a foreign enemy. Many of the Jewish people were deported to other countries. Esther was an orphan raised by her cousin, Mordecai. She was a beautiful young woman and through a series of God-directed circumstances had gone from commoner to Queen.
Ester’s uncle, Mordecai, learned of a plot by an evil man to have all the Jewish people murdered and their possessions confiscated. Mordecai then went to Esther asking her to intercede with the King so that the Jews could be spared. Esther knew that the ruthless king would not allow anyone to come before him without a prior invitation. This could mean death to anyone, including the Queen.
However, the situation was so critical that Esther was willing to risk her own life to save her people.
Esther 4:15-16 (NLT) Then Esther sent this reply to Mordecai: 16“Go and gather together all the Jews of Susa and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. My maids and I will do the same. And then, though it is against the law, I will go in to see the king. If I must die, I must die.”
Queen Esther was initially afraid to go before the King without an invitation. She knew she could be put to death. Mordecai challenged Esther with this statement, …“Who knows if perhaps you were made queen for just such a time as this?” Esther 4:14b (NLT)
Esther did pray and fast. Three days later she went to the King, uninvited. God had intervened in the heart of the King. He summoned Esther into his presence and asked her to speak. Esther pleaded her heart for her Jewish people. The King responded favorably and the Jewish people were miraculously spared.
Like Esther, the earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results. This is a promise to all Christ-followers, true Christians. Your prayers are powerful and effective. You are alive now for such a challenging time as this.
Continue to fast and pray as a church family for First Baptist and the Lakefront Churches to be the Church God has called us to be. Fast and pray for your family. Fast and pray for your friends.
Fast and pray for your community. Fast and pray for your nation. Fast and pray for the Ukrainian people to be victorious!
You are alive now! Your prayers are needed. Your prayers are powerful and produce wonderful results.
