Day 20

Winning in Secret

There is great personal satisfaction when you have a victory over an area in your life you do not want to publicly disclose. You have a hidden sin that is debilitating and unseen by others. Perhaps you are good at concealing pornography or too much alcohol or pain medication or gossip or flirting or profanity. During these 40 days, you find God’s strength to say no to those secret sins. No one knows. No one sees. But you do! You find exhilaration in your spirit as God gives you these secret wins!

1 Corinthians 10:12-13 (NLT) If you think you are standing strong, be careful not to fall. 13The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, He will show you a way out so that you can endure.

Secret wins are those times when temptations are strong, yet you do not surrender. No one sees your victory. It is invisible, but you know deep in your heart that God has empowered you to say no to the tempter! You walk away joyful for what the Holy Spirit has accomplished in your life! A secret win is a great emotion. You give glory to God.

One small secret win added to another win, and you begin to see God’s power delivering you from those tough sins that have enslaved you. Fasting from food and fasting from anything that you have very little resistance to reject begins to develop you into a powerful Christian witness!

Matthew 5:14-16 (NLT) You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. 15No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. 16In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.

I pray that today, God’s power and your self-discipline will give you many secret wins! You gain the victory and God receives the glory; a Spiritual win-win!
