COVID 19

Latest Covid-19 Update
(updated 12.23.2020, 12:00PM)

Florida is now in Phase 3 of our Coronavirus response. For First Baptist Church, that means we have much more freedom to increase attendance with less restriction on how that all happens. When this all began, we had three guiding principles for our decisions, these three principles remain true.

First, grace abounds. Gathering in person is not a test of faith, nor is it a time to push others to agree with our personal convictions regarding politics, worship, or public health issues. We continue to celebrate each person’s decision regarding what is best for them.

Second, health matters. We will continue to sanitize, encourage masks and follow local, state and federal guidelines for best practices during this pandemic. Everyone’s health and comfort matters, so we will be erring on the side of caution.

Third, God reigns. There is nothing in this time of pandemic that surprises God or is outside of his control. We don’t know what’s around the corner, but he does.

Here’s what you can expect:
  • We encourage masks and social distancing. Masks should cover both nose and mouth. We have a limited supply of masks available as you arrive. This is particularly important when social distancing is not possible.
  • Our services will generally be less than one hour so that people can transition safely and to give us time to sanitize our facility before the next group arrives.
  • Out of an abundance of caution we will continue to have half of our seating taped off.
  • Children’s ministry will be open at our 9:30 service only. We are following local school guidelines, so masks are required for kindergarten-5th grade and encouraged for ages 2-pre-kindergarten.
  • We will have offering plates as you leave the worship center.
  • We will not hand out bulletins or other handouts. There will be limited resources available in our lobby for those who choose to take them.
  • We will continue to offer our 8:00 service at the Lakefront, giving people the opportunity to worship outside during this time.
  • Many of our adult classes and Bible studies have resumed.
We’ll continue to monitor the situation and will adjust our plans as events unfold.
